Theology Degree by Distance Education
In association with The University of Wales, Lampeter, the Priory Institute offers a certificate, diploma, and degree in theology. The full programme consists of twenty modules offered over five years, and while it is designed on the basis of studying two modules concurrently, participants may choose to take one module at a time. The modules are text-based, and participants receive the full text at the launch of each module, which normally takes place in The Priory Institute, Tallaght.
Theology from Home - plus!
While the main work of each module is done from home and at each person's own pace, there is a network of student support to offset the 'loneliness of the long-distance learner'. Thus every student is linked with one of the twelve centres around Ireland, and each centre is stocked with basic reading resources, as well as having a local co-ordinator who liases with the students. There are two study days in a number of the centres during the fifteen-week module, and an academic tutor who is available via e-mail on a weekly basis to help students with their study. Participants are also encouraged to meet informally during the course of the module, on the belief that theology flourishes through such interaction and discussion.
What about you...?
We are living in a fast-changing world, and many of the certainties of the past have been stripped away. As well, the churches are undergoing structural transformation, developing new strategies and priorities. In the search for new roles and understanding, we believe theology has a key part to play.
Whatever your age or background, we invite you to consider taking up the challenge to become more aware of our spiritual heritage and face the future with greater awareness and understanding.
